The trailer for Stephen King’s highly anticipated film adaptation is finally here.

Earlier this year Stephen King (Author of The Dark Tower novels) revealed the first poster for the movie with a caption “Pilgrims, there are other worlds than these, come with us on this adventure.” Since then we’ve been anticipating the teasers,  posters and trailers. Yesterday, two new character posters were released and now we have the first official trailer before it’s release date in August.

The first  character poster is of The Gunslinger/Roland Deschain (Idris Elba), who can be seen wielding his two trademark six shooters, and the second is of villain Man in Black (Matthew McConaughey).

The Dark Tower sees Idris Elba as King’s The Gunslinger/ Roland Deschain, and Matthew McConaughey as the Man in Black, in an epic mix of fantasy, horror, and western styles set in a realm known as Mid-World.

Being the last living member of the knightly order of gunslingers, Roland’s fabled quest is to find The Dark Tower that is rumoured to be the nexus of all universes before it’s destroyed by The Man in Black, Walter; a warlock who has already reigned destruction on the people of Mid-World.

News that The Dark Tower TV series starring Idris Elba is reportedly in the works which will fill in the Gunslinger’s backstory.

The Dark Tower’s released date has been pushed back to August 4th.

Synopsis :

Jake Chambers (Tom Taylor) is a young 11-year-old adventure seeker who discovers clues about another dimension called Mid-World. Upon following the mystery, he is spirited away to Mid-World where he encounters a Gunslinger, Roland Deschain (Idris Elba), who is on a quest to reach the “Dark Tower” that resides in End-World and reach the nexus point between time and space that he hopes will save all existence from extinction. But with various monsters and a vicious sorcerer named Walter Padick (Matthew McConaughey) hot on their trail, the unlikely duo find that their quest may be difficult to complete.
