Though four months have passed, 2017 seems to still hold a number of great films yet to be released. Of course, January, February especially March and April have offered some powerful films to kick-start the year, mostly in the Horror/Thriller genre, and despite the fact that 2016 may have raised the bar for movies generally, it appears that 2017 may become an even bigger year for movie fans everywhere. However this list will not be limited to any specific movie genre, as various movies have grabbed the attention of many cinema goers and managed to land on everyone’s 2017 watch-list. From already released trailer and soundtracks accredited to these movies, in no particular order here are my top anticipated movies for the year:

Thor: Ragnarok

With his slight disappearance and appearance in Avengers: Age of Ultron and a cameo in Doctor Strange, we are excited to see what the Norse God of Thunder has been up to since his departure from earth. Chris Hemsworth reprising his role as Thor,  Tom Hiddleston (Loki),  Anthony Hopkins (Odin), Jamie Alexander (Lady Sif), and the Three warriors and an all new set of cast members with Cate Blanchett as Hela (villain), Karl Urban and Jeff Goldblum. Thor Ragnarok will definitely be an exciting superhero movie to watch out for.

Release Date: November 3rd

Spiderman: Homecoming

After his debut in Captain America: Civil Wars, Tom Holland was introduced to the World as the new Spiderman/Peter Parker. With Sony and MCU finally cutting a deal and Spiderman finally under the Marvel umbrella, it’s safe to say Tom Holland might just be the best version of Spiderman to date, with Robert Downey Jr taking on his role as Tony Stark (Iron Man), a mentor and benefactor to Tom Holland Spiderman character stuck between the life and hurdles of a teenager and becoming a superhero. The film’s plot looks plenty fun. Michael Keaton will be playing the villain and bad guy (Adrian Toomes/The Vulture).

Wonder Woman

One thing I agreed with in DC’s Batman Vs Superman: Dawn of Justice was Gal Godot’s role as Wonder Woman  as she stole every scene she appeared in, with its official solo movie and Wonder Woman making history as the first solo female superhero movie. From the first look at the trailer, Wonder Woman promises to be plenty exciting.

Release Date : June 2nd

Justice League

So for all DC comic fans and all superhero fans, Justice League looks to be an interesting film. The movie premise is set after the BVS: Dawn of Justice with events and many of the characters set Post-BVS. We’ll finally see DC’s Justice League match its power with Marvel’s Avengers. It is safe to say (regardless of the backlash towards BVS and Suicide Squad) that Cinema goers, Movie fans and Superhero fans will definitely be checking this movie out once it is released.

Oh!  and Groot!!

Blade Runner 2049

The first Blade Runner (1982) is one of the best science fiction films ever to be made by Ridley Scott, after almost three decades Ridley Scott and Denis Villeneuve (Director of the Arrival and Sicario) partner together in this upcoming sequel. Harrison Ford will be back as Deckard and all new cast members that include Ryan Gosling, Jared Leto, and Robin Wright. This sequel promises to be just as good as the first.

The Dark Tower

Just like all Stephen King’s  novels turned films, which has produced some of cinema’s greatest films. The Dark Tower is the latest of one to come out, seeing Oscar winner Matthew McConaughey and Idris Elba in lead roles on their quest. This is a definite must watch for me.
