Here’s a rundown of movies to be released this week (24/01/2017) in cinemas worldwide.
*Resident Evil: Final Chapter
This is the sixth and final installment of the Resident Evil Film franchise written and produced by Paul W. S. Anderson. A sequel to Resident Evil: Retribution, Resident Evil: Final Chapter picks up exactly three weeks after the Alice (Mila Jovovich) was betrayed by Wesker in the events that took place in Resident Evil: Retribution, being the only survivor in what was supposed to be humanity’s last stand against the undead, Alice must return to where it all started in Raccoon City, where the Umbrella Corporation is Re-enforcing it’s forces for a final strike against the remaining survivors of the apocalypse. This sequel will see Alice reunite with old friends and allies from the different previous installment of the Resident Evil series as they try to save humanity from getting wiped out. *I Am Michael
I Am Michael is an American biopic drama film directed by Justin Kelly and starring James Franco as Michael Glatze, the film also stars Zachary Quinton and Emma Roberts. The plot is based on a true life story of an ex-gay right activist who renounces homosexuality and becomes a Christian Pastor. Jame Franco plays Michael Glatze, Zachary Quinton plays Michael’s boyfriend Bennett and Emma Roberts plays Rebekkah Fuller, a young woman Michael falls in love with after he converts. Official release date: 27th of January
*A Dog’s Purpose
A dog’s purpose is a comedy drama directed by Lasse Hallström (The Hundred-foot Journey) based on the novel of the same name by W. Bruce Cameron.
The story follows a Dog named Bailey ( voiced by Josh Gad). The life and death of Bailey and his reincarnation as different breeds belonging to different owners and how the canine existence h intersects with that of a young boy (Ethan) who rescued him in 1962. Official release date:27th January.
Dennis Quaid plays Adult Ethan, K. J Apa as young Ethan, Josh Gad as the voice of Bailey.
A movie based on the true life story of Bre-X mining scandal in which a gold deposit mine was supposedly discovered in Busang, Indonesia. The film is directed by Oscar winning film director Stephen Gaghan. The plot of the movie is surrounded around Kenny Wells played by Matthew McConaughey, an unlucky businessman who teams up with geologist Michael Acosta played by Edgar Ramirez to find gold in the jungle of Busang, Indonesia (Borneo). Official release date: 27th January.
*The Daughter (Limited)
An Australian drama film written and directed by Simon Stone. The plot of the movie is surrounded around family as a man named Christian Nielsen (Paul Schneider) returns home to Australia from the US after 10years for his father Henry’s (Award winning Geoffrey Rush) wedding to his younger housekeeper Anna. He reunites with old time friend Oliver (Ewen Leslie) and gets drawn to Oliver’s family, eventually discovering Charlotte, wife of Oliver had an affair with his father and their daughter Hedvig (Odessa Young) is not Oliver’s but Henry’s which causes Oliver to leave his wife and tell his daughter he can’t stand to look at her, these series of event causes the Hedvig to attempt committing suicide with her grandfather’s shotgun. Oliver and Hedvig reunite in the hospital after an unsuccessful suicide attempt. Released in 2015, this movie will be officially released in the cinemas for the first time on the 27thof January.
*Lost in Florence (Limited)
Eric Lazard played by Brett Dalton is a heartbroken former college football star is at crossroads between pursuing his dream to play professional football and applying for law school, he goes to Italy on a visit to see his cousin Anna (Stana Katic) who lives in Italy and teaches Italian language to foreigners, he gets over his head in a dangerous Florentine sport “Calcio Fiorentino” and an alluring local woman. Official release date: 27th January.
